The Right Stuff Baby!

A few months ago Ryland found my Fisher Price tape recorder/microphone from the 1980's at my parents house. When I saw him playing with it the first thing that popped in my head was New Kids on the Block.  So I started singing "The Right Stuff Baby" in the microphone with him.  And he immediately picked it up and that has become his favorite song.  Tab is so proud!

Que the music please ....

oh oh uhoh oh oh uhoh oh oh uhoh the right stuff!

And the best part is that he loves this song so much that he now turns everything into his own personal microphone to sing it .... markers, toothbrushes ... and he always turns them upside down!

Crib Climber!

So ... we have a crib climber.  And I do not think there is any going back.  Ryland climbed out of his crib for the first time a while back and did it a couple of times but then went for a long stretch of not doing it at all.

This was until last week.

Last Thursday morning I was surprised when someone showed up in the hallway (in the dark) while I was walking back to the bedroom from ironing my clothes.   Ryland had climbed out of his crib ... without making a peep and was on his way to our room to say good morning!

And then again on Friday morning ... I was greeted in our bathroom door.

And then again on Saturday morning .. Tab and I were woken up by someone saying "Mommy, Mommy" in our bedroom doorway.

And then again on Sunday morning ... This time we busted him as he was climbing out!

The good news is that he has this climbing out of the crib thing down pat.  He can pull himself over the railing and then step through the railings and put his foot on the mattress and then step all the way down to the floor.  So he has not fallen while doing it. Our fingers crossed that he doesn't fall!

We have started talking about bumping up our plans to move him to his big boy bed sooner rather than later.  We just have to order the side rails and then we will have everything that we need for the transition.  As of now, the plan is to move him straight into a full size bed since his crib converts for a full size frame.  I just need to mentally prepare for this transition because this is another sign that my little boy is growing up!

And I will say that getting Ryland to stay in his crib for nap time is definitely a challenge now!  But so far, going to bed at night has been good with no issues since he is usually exhausted at the end of the day.

Fun times at the Bullard household!!

A Fun Saturday Indoors!

This past Saturday we had a fun day playing indoors since it was so cold outside!

It started out with truck rides in our pajamas!
Codi loved all of the running around and pushing Ryland in his truck!

Ryland is telling us to sit in his truck so that he can push us.  I do not think that we will fit ... sorry buddy!

After getting dressed for the day it was time for Ryland to turn his truck on its side and push it around.

Getting ready to run to the grocery store!

Showing off his creation after playing with his legos!  He put this together all by himself. What a proud boy.  And it is a cute little creation if I do say so myself!

A Special Bedtime Treat ...

Ryland got to watch Elmo before going to bed ... And he got to watch it while laying in our bed.

He loved every minute of it!

Giving the camera a big smile while squinting his eyes!

Talking, Talking and More Talking

Ryland is talking up a storm and doing such a good job of saying his words, sentences and having conversations!

Here are some of our favorite ....

"Chick Chi La" ... aka Chick-fil-A.  This has become his favorite place to eat.  And he knows one when he sees one.  I promise we do not really eat there that much!

"Ryland Bullard" ... I love it when it says his full name.  And especially when he follows it up with "Mommy Bullard" and "Daddy Bullard"

"Read the book on the floor" ... Instead of reading his bedtime story in his chair we usually all lay on the floor with a book and take turns reading.  And he will tell us when it is time for us to all switch books.

"Rock the baby" ... He loves it when we act like he is a little baby and rock him like we did in our arms when he was a newborn.   Sometimes he will grab one of his stuffed animals and tell us that he is "rocking the baby"

"Thomas the Cho Cho Train" ... Instead of just saying Thomas the Train he usually refers to anything with Thomas on it as "Thomas the Cho Cho Train".

He loves to give us directions when we are playing with him ... where to sit, what to play with and what to do with it.

"Rub the back" ... He is starting to get spoiled and wants us to rub his back every night before we leave his room.  And we are not complaining ... because we love our nighttime routine :)

"Where did the "xx" go?" ... He is very observant and can quickly determine that something or someone is missing.

"Lets watch Elmo Doctor" ... His favorite character is definitely Elmo.  And my parents found this really good DVD set about Elmo going to see the doctor, going to school and going to bed.  Watching them is one of his favorite things to do.

He is growing up so fast!  We need to get out the camera and record him saying all of his funny and our favorite stuff before it is too late!
