I guess that stomach bug was contagious ...

Tab is in Isle of Palms this weekend for Pat's bachelor weekend. He left on Thursday and will be back tomorrow. Our mommy/son weekend started off a little rough because I woke up Friday morning with the stomach bug that Ryland had on Wednesday. Needless to say I packed up Ryland's clothes and breakfast and dropped him off at school in his pjs as soon as he woke up. I did not want to run the risk of him getting sick again.

My mom ended up coming back from the Highlands to help me with Ryland on Friday afternoon/night. But I am feeling a lot better this morning so my mom left to go back to the Highlands.

Tab also woke up on Friday with the stomach bug in Isle of Palms :( So I guess this means that we need to resist kissing and loving on Ryland when he is sick. And that is going to be really hard!

Lets hope for a better Saturday and Sunday!

Ryland's First Stomach Bug :(

Ryland woke up this morning with his first stomach bug. Our first clue should have been that we had to wake him up at 7:30am when usually he is the one to wake us up at 6am. He was not really into his morning bottle and did not drink much of it and then all of a sudden he started throwing up. Tab was in the bed room feeding him and I could hear it from the bathroom :( After that spell of throwing up we got him cleaned up and dressed for the day hoping that it was all over. We all went downstairs and I thought I would see if he wanted a Cheerio since it was bland and thinking that it would help the gross taste he had to have in his mouth. As soon as he saw and picked up the Cheerio he made this awful/sad face and then another round of throwing up started. Talk about feeling helpless seeing your little one like this.

After a call to the Dr's office they told us that it was probably the stomach bug that was going around and there was not much we could do but let it run it's course and keep him hydrated.

We kept him out of school today and he has had a much better day compared to his morning. He still has not had a bottle today but if things keep looking good we will probably try giving him a little one before he goes to bed tonight. So far he has done good with the pears and banana that we gave him this afternoon.

Lets hope that a good night's sleep for him will bring a better day tomorrow!

I LOVE playing with all of my toys on the floor (and drooling on my clothes!) ...

Tooth #3 and #4 have appeared!!

We can tell that Ryland is about to get both of his 2 front top teeth and we can already see the left one. It still has a really thin layer of skin over it and is about to break through. The right one is not far behind because we can see it too! I guess that explains all of the drool :)

Girls Trip and My First Time Away from Ryland for 2 Nights

I am leaving today for a girls weekend in Highlands. This will be my first time away from Ryland for 2 nights in a row. The only other time that I was away overnight was for a work trip to Charlotte, NC and it was only for 1 night.

My family from Alabama, Chicago and Boston are here so Tab and Ryland are going out to Douglasville today to hang out and play with all of the aunts, uncles and cousins. My cousin Miles is 1 week older than Ryland so they should have a lot of fun together. We went out to Douglasville last night for dinner so that I could see everyone before I left for the Highlands. Ryland loved seeing everyone and even showed Miles how to shake the container of cheerios like a rattle.

I am off to Highlands! I am really excited about a weekend away with my friends but know that I will be so ready to see Ryland's huge smile on Sunday when I get home!!

1st Day at The Goddard School!!

Today was Ryland's first day at The Goddard School! When we dropped him off this morning, he was as happy has can be.

There was one other infant in the room when we got there and this little boy was around the same age as Ryland. However this little boy was very laid back and quiet. I told his teacher that Ryland will probably not be anything like that infant because Ryland will be all over the place and talking, grunting and laughing the entire time :)

I cannot wait to go pick him up so that he can tell me all about his day!!

Ryland's Ear Tubes Are Officially In

We arrived at the Children's Outpatient Surgery Center at 6:30am this morning and I took Ryland into the operating room at 7:56:am. We are so proud of him because he did awesome! Tab and I were both worried about how he was going to react to us waking him up early and then not being able to feed him but he did not cry any on the car ride there or while we were in the pre-op room. He shed his first tear of the day when I laid him down on the operating table (talk about breaking your heart) and he definitely did not like the mask that they put on him to put him to sleep. I was able to hold his hand until he was sound asleep which happened in less than a minute. Tab and I were then moved over to the post-op/recovery room and within 10 minutes they were wheeling Ryland into the room with us. He was still sleeping and we let him sleep for 10 more minutes before waking him up. We were back at home by 9am and Ryland has been playing ever since. I am so glad that the surgery went well and definitely glad that it is over.

Lets hope that the tubes work their little miracle and no more ear infections for our little boy!

It's Time to Lower the Crib!!

We put Ryland in his crib last night while we were getting his bath ready and before we knew it he had pulled up on the side and was standing! I cannot believe how fast he is growing up! Tab lowered the crib last night and he is now sleeping closer to the ground :)

Trip to Highlands, NC

We just got back from a long weekend in Highlands, NC. The entire family was there ... Pops, CC, Tab, myself, Ryland, Codi, Bailey and Spike. The weekend was full of relaxation, walking around downtown Highlands, and of course .... playing with Ryland and doing whatever he wanted to do.

Ryland had a really big weekend in Highlands! He is now in what I call "stage 2 crawling" which means he no longer casually goes where he wants :) He is fast and determined to get to wherever and whatever he wants.

Another big milestone from this weekend is that he can now go from laying down/crawling to sitting up without any help! When we walked into his room this morning we found him sitting up in his crib happy as can be.

Needless to say when we got home I immediately installed all of the outlet covers in our house and we will be installing the gate at the top of our stairs tonight!

Below are some pictures from our wonderful weekend.

Strolling around downtown Highlands ...

I found the cutest hat at a store in downtown but did not buy it because I am afraid that it will be too small for him this winter. But that did not stop us from trying it on and taking pictures!
